YMCA of Greater Seattle Sports Official in Newcastle, Washington

Overview

*YGS is currently offering a "New Hire $600 Sign-On Cash Incentive"!

As of October 6th new Full-time and Part-time employees will receive a $600 bonus, which will be paid in one lump sum, after working 120 hours.

Job Summary

Officiate a variety of sports programs for youth, teen, and/or adults. Create a safe, enjoyable, positive and inclusive environment that welcomes people of all skill and activity levels. Provide a quality experience to participants and families.

The YMCA of Greater Seattle has implemented safety standards and protocols related to preventative health measures based on CDC and local health department guidelines.YGS will comply with all WA State mandates regarding COVID-19 vaccinations. All YGS staff in Child Care roles will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 18, 2021; All YGS staff will be required to be fully vaccinated by November 1, 2021 regardless of work location.Religious and Medical Exemptions will be considered at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  1. Officiates games in accordance with YMCA rules and guidelines.

  2. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  3. Develops positive relationships with participants

  4. Sets up and takes down equipment. Reports any equipment needs.

  5. Attends staff meetings and approved trainings as required.

  6. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. 18 years of age or older.

  2. Current state approved first aid certification preferred.

    1. Current state approved CPR certification preferred.
    1. Knowledge of the sport.

  2. Develops positive relationships with participants.

  4. Experience in officiating preferred.

  9. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.

  10. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

  11. Prefer knowledge of, and pervious experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

  12. Other duties assigned.

  • At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 90 days after employment)
