Where you’ll work…

We have partnered with the Auburn School District in order to work with families that are dealing with homelessness which gives our staff the opportunity to create a welcoming, active, and fun environment – which they might not be getting otherwise. Our Fit + Fun Before School Program at the Auburn Valley YMCA allows all K – 5 students in the Auburn School District an opportunity for fun and engaging activities before the bell rings.

We maintain lower staff-to-participant ratios in order to give more attention and care to children who will benefit from a stable and caring environment, and exposure to positive role models. Ongoing support and training on working with trauma-impacted children is provided.

As the Assistant Program Supervisor of the Fit and Fun Before School Program, you will plan and implement activities and act as the lead onsite when the Program Director is not present. This position will serve on an engaging and dynamic team, playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum are provided to the participants. This position is a regular ongoing positon that works within our youth enrichment programs throughout the school year.


  1. Plans and implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA. May be responsible for the quality and completion of program plans including lesson, behavior and event plans.

  2. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.

  3. Supervises instructors/volunteers. Maintains required staff/child ratios.

  4. Professionally communicates confidential and evaluative information with parents/guardians including newsletters, individual parent communication and parent/teacher conferences.

  5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  6. Maintains professional relationships with families, facility personnel and the community. May plan and conduct events for parents.

  7. May maintain required records according to YMCA, including attendance records, registration information, accident reports and discipline records.

  8. Assists in recruiting new enrollments.

  9. May ensure that site supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary.

  10. Ensures developmentally appropriate classrooms including appearance, décor and cleanliness of site.

  11. May prepare and serve snacks.

  12. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

  13. Other duties as assigned.

Who are you?

You have the ability to oversee a group of children to ensure their health and safety needs are met while continuously providing a positive, enriching experience for each participant. You have an eye for quality programming and know how to provide support and a sense of belonging to others in order to generate a program that is successful and enriching for all involved.


You are 21 years of age or older and should have:

  • 2 years or more of experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching, etc.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty

  • Experience planning and implementing group activities
